Electric Lotus Tattoo is a custom tattoo shop at 233 5th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We’ve been tattooing Brooklyn since 1993, and owner and lead artist Jae Connor has been at it for more than thirty years.
Whether you call it a tattoo shop, a tattoo parlor, or a studio, this is a working shop. Clean, bright, and welcoming, with artists who take the time to get your idea right.

For custom work, book ahead. Send your idea, size, placement, and reference images through the appointments page. An artist gets back to you within about three days, and a deposit holds your time.
What a tattoo costs in Brooklyn
Every tattoo is priced on its own: size, placement, detail, and how long it takes. The shop minimum is $150, and we charge by the piece, so there’s no clock running. We’d rather give you a real number after seeing your idea than a guess before.
A deposit of $100 to $200 holds your appointment. It’s non-refundable, it comes off the final cost, and we ask for 48 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule. We take cash, all major credit cards, Venmo, and PayPal.
Bring your questions to the consultation. Nobody here is going to talk you into a bigger tattoo than you want.
The artists
Three artists work out of the shop, each with a different strength.
Jae Connor, co-owner and lead artist. Custom work across styles, tattooing since 1993.
Julius Forte. Classic American and Japanese traditional, and he paints new flash constantly. He joined the shop in 2024.
Joe Montalbano. American traditional: roses, eagles, snakes, pinups, skulls. A traveling tattooer who works out of Electric Lotus when he’s in Brooklyn.

Getting to the shop from anywhere in Brooklyn
We’re on 5th Avenue near President Street in Park Slope.
By subway: the R at Union Street is a four minute walk. Bergen Street on the 2 and 3 is about twelve minutes. Atlantic Avenue and Barclays Center, with the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, R and the LIRR, is about fourteen minutes down 5th Avenue.
From Williamsburg, Greenpoint, or Carroll Gardens: take the G or the F to 4th Avenue and 9th Street, then it’s a sixteen minute walk, or switch to the R for one stop to Union Street.
From Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene, or Boerum Hill: a fifteen minute walk down 5th Avenue, or the R two stops to Union Street.
If you’re driving, it’s street parking in the neighborhood, so give yourself a few extra minutes.
A Brooklyn shop since 1993
Electric Lotus opened in Brooklyn in 1993 and now works out of 5th Avenue in Park Slope. Jae has been tattooing that whole time, so there’s more than three decades of experience behind the counter.
DoNYC voted us one of the best tattoo shops in New York City. We’d rather you judge that for yourself: come by, look at the work, and talk to whoever’s at the counter.
What to expect at your first visit
If this is your first tattoo, here’s how it goes.
Send us your idea. Size, placement, style, and any reference images, through the appointments page or in person.
An artist gets back to you, usually within about three days, to talk through the design and give you a price.
A deposit holds your time. It’s $100 to $200 depending on the piece, and it comes off the final cost.
Your design is ready when you arrive, with time to look it over and adjust size, orientation, and placement before we start.
Eat beforehand and wear something that gives easy access to the placement. Every needle is single-use, and your artist walks you through aftercare before you leave.
